Questions & Answers / Help

What methods of PAYMENT do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (exc Amex), Paypal, Cheque (goods dispatched once payment cleared), and payment in store..

Do your prices displayed on the website include VAT?

All prices as stated on the website include VAT which is currently 20%.  All orders are dispatched with a full VAT invoice including itemised VAT levels, and out VAT number.

I live outside of the UK.  Can I still order from your website?

Yes, however due to delivery costs, orders for large items may be refused.  If you have any specific requirements of questions, please contact us.

How much do you charge for delivery?

All items listed on our website have the shipping charges calculated automatically. This is due to the size of the parcel, weight and destination. If the item is dispatched from our warehouse it will arrive by Royal Mail or Parcel Force. If your order is dispatched direct from a manufacturer, it may arrive on any courier company and delivery times will vary.

How long will delivery take?

Orders placed before 12:00pm on working days will be processed same day and items dispatched (subject to the item being in stock).  All orders that can be dispatched by post are dispatched via First Class Royal Mail.  All other orders are dispatched via Parcel Force Couriers on a next working day delivery service.  We do offer a Premium Saturday delivery service and also a before noon (next working day) service - both of which incur a surcharge.  All items sent by courier and certain postal items sent by Recorded or Special delivery will require a signature upon receipt.

If your order is returned to us because a signature was unobtainable upon delivery (usually more than one attempt will be made), a redelivery charge may be incurred.  Postal items that are too large for letterboxes may be held at your local Royal Mail depot or Post Office for collection.

How quick do you respond to emails?

We receive hundreds of genuine emails per month and these are answered on a first come first served basis.  We endeavour to answer all emails as quickly as possible - please remember that the easiest way to communicate with our company is by telephone during working hours.

How long have you been trading ?

DFB Sound & Light Warehouse Ltd have been established since 2000 and are now one of the largest online DJ & Disco retailers in the United Kingdom.  Our newly revised website www.soundlightuk.com has been online since January 2009.

When will I receive any goods purchased on-line?

We will confirm your transaction via automated email within a couple of minutes of you successfully placing your order, providing that a valid email address is supplied.  The majority of orders are dispatched same day, however, if an order is particularly urgent, please contact us to check stocks and delivery timescales prior to ordering.

How do I find out if the goods have been despatched?

Upon despatch, we operate a policy of sending an email to every customer who places an order online. The despatch email includes real time information regarding the status of the order and provides the customer with the full ability to track their order to their door (using parcel consignment number).  Items that have been sent via Royal Mail, will have no tracking number.  You can also check the status of your order online.
Please ensure you check the quantity of parcels that you are signing for and report any problems to us within 24 hours. Please ensure someone will be at the delivery address to accept your order as our carriers will only leave goods with a signature.  If you are not at the address to accept the order our carriers will usually return the next working day, after this you will be required to collect your order from your local depot.  Clear details of this will be explained on the "Sorry we missed you" card that will be left by your driver.

How much stock / items do you carry?

Our newly refurbished warehouse carries large volumes of stock allowing the majority of orders to be fulfilled immediately.

Is your on-line system "Secure"?

When you register details with us, make an order or access account details, we use a secure server.  Any data you give us is encrypted using a 'Secure Socket Layer' (SSL) session.  SSL is an industry standard and is one of the best ways to ensure Internet messages are not intercepted.  When using a secure connection a small padlock will be displayed in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. Please look for the padlock when you are transferring any of your personal details over the internet.

How can I pay for goods?

Our Online store accepts all the major credit cards except Amex.  Other methods include cheque (goods sent when cleared), collection of online order and Paypal.  If you are unable to do any of these, you may also pay cash directly to our bank account through any branch of Barclays Bank.

How long is your product warranty?

We offer a 12 months warranty with all products unless otherwise stated.  Certain products carry further manufacturers warranties (these may require separate registration with the applicable manufacturer).

Reusable Packing

All our goods are brand new but please be aware to pack some items we may use additional external reusable packing, you should not refuse delivery of you order because it doesn't look like what you expected!!

Faulty Items

Please contact us immediately if you believe that your goods are faulty.  Depending on the period of time since delivery, immediate replacement or repair will be offered.  If this is within 6 months of delivery, transporting costs will be at DFB Sound & Light Warehouse's expense (with exception to trade customers*).  Outside of this 6 month period, the cost of returning the goods to us will be at the customer's expense.  We will not charge for return of repaired or replacement goods to yourself.  We may charge a handling charge for items returned to us that are 'not faulty'.  Items that are faulty or damaged due to user error will be dealt with as 'normal repairs' and may not be covered by manufacturers guarantee.

Cancelling an order

You must inform DFB Sound & Light Warehouse Ltd in writing (fax, letter or email) of your intention to cancel the order.

Cancelling an order (after receipt of goods)

Under the Distance Selling regulations, you are entitled to cancel orders within 7 days following receipt of items.  This applies to consumers only and does not apply to business customers.  You must inform DFB Sound & Light Warehouse Ltd in writing (fax, letter or email) of your intention to cancel the order.  Goods must be in 'as new' condition, and packaging must be complete and not damaged.  (It is considered reasonable for you to open the outer packaging and inspect the goods).  You are responsible for 'restoring' the goods that to our premises - this means that they are either sent back to us (at your expense), or we can collect the goods for you (all costs incurred are at your expense and will be deducted from the refund).

Please note that CDs and DVDs are not covered under the Distance Selling regulations.

Cancelling an order / Returning items without packaging

Until you are sure that you want to keep the goods, and not return them 'as new' under the Distance Selling regulations, we urge you to not to dispose of any packaging materials appertaining to the product, instruction manuals, accessories, leads etc.  We will accept returns without packaging, however, DFB Sound & Light Warehouse Ltd deems these to NOT be in 'as new' condition, and therefore will refund the full amount, less the cost of repacking or replacing missing items from the manufacturer.  Please ensure that when returning products without packaging, that you use 'suitable' packaging to ensure their safe return back to ourselves.

* Trade customers are defined as customers who use items purchased from DFB Sound & Light Warehouse Ltd within the normal course of their profession or business, or purposely to resell.  For example, a mobile DJ uses disco equipment to earn money as part of a business and therefore would be defined as a trade customer, but a 'bedroom DJ' who operates solely for pleasure at their home would not be classed as a trade customer.
